Parshas Eikev

The Ba'al HaTurim says that "VShomar" is the same gematria as L'Asid LaVo. the reward for the Mitzvah is only in the future as there is no payment Hashem can give you in this world and if your going to ask what about Pirosehem B'olam Hazeh V'haKeren Kayemet L'olam habo, that is only gas in the engine, something to keep you going. Hashem has to give you money for Shabbos, Tfillin and for all the Mitvos. but thats not the reward. Look at the Rambam Hilchos Tshuva 9:1.

Hashem accepted the Korban of Hevel. A little child will ask "Rebbe, where is Hevel, isn't he 6 feet under ground. What do you mean that Hashem accepted his Korban?"

Answes Tosfos (on the spot) It means L'Olam HaBo because there is no reward for Mitzvos in this world.

Says the Chasam Sofer in answer to the childs question. the first thing you have to teach a child is that you dont have to understand and that answer is sufficient.

But if you want to dig a little deeper, Seth (Adams Son) was a reincarnation of Hevel and if you dig a little deeper your discover so too was Moshe Rabbeinu a reincarnation of Hevel. But the answer of not having to understand is sufficient.

How do you know that a person cant get a test that he is unable to pass? Because the Gemmorah says in Kesubos (33b)about Channaniah, Mishael and Azariah had they been whipped they would have succumbed. Asks Reb Chaim Shmuelevitz The Mirrer Rosh Yeshiva ZT"L, is the Gemmorah telling us Loshen Hora about these 3? Answers Reb Chaim, the Gemmorah is teaching us that you never get a test that you cant pass.

Torah Blessings,
